Every year, during the week of the full moon in July, Rocca di Luna takes place. Two days of festivities featuring a variety of shows and events, including theatre, music, poetry, art and entertainment. The whole of the Old Town – the squares and the most picturesque streets – is transformed into a hub of socialising, culture and fun.

PROGRAMME
SATURDAY 25 JULY
Via delle Mercanzie Arcane: markets in Via XI Febbraio
Through the streets of the Old Town: entertainment by I Musici Erranti, Miriana (trumpet), Massimo and Aurelio (percussion and trombone). The Iron & Violets Duo perform Celtic-inspired pieces featuring guitars, vocals, accordion, cajón and harmonica. Great Italian pop classics reinterpreted by the cover band I Naviganti. Songs by singer-songwriter Maurizio Crudi.

Costumed parades by the Armigeri del Branca and the Arcieri di Lòrien.

Decorative panels along the streets of the Old Town, organised by the Il Gesto Social Cooperative.

BELVEDERE DELL’ULTIMA LUCE (Piazzale II Giugno)

Cat School Stagefighters, a team of performers specialising in shows inspired by the world of video games, presents a performance dedicated to Assassin’s Creed.

La Danza delle Sfere, a display of medieval and Renaissance dances organised by the ‘Ardente Sole’ Historical Dance Group of WKO – A.D.A.

ANTRO DEGLI ORACOLI (Piazzetta Palmerini)

Between the Wayfarer’s Inn and the allure of cards, tarot and runes, a place where ancient symbols and mysterious traditions accompany visitors on an evocative journey.


CHURCH OF SAN PAOLO
9.30 pm, Concert by Duo Effe featuring Francesca Gabrielli on flute and Andrea Coruzzi on classical accordion, interweaving passages from the life of St Francis written and read by Pasquale D’Alessio.

Vittorio Vergani will guide the audience on a journey through art, history and spirituality to discover the parish church, with guided tours running continuously.

MALATESTA FORTRESS
Visit to the ‘Dragon’s Egg’ cave in the fortress’s ramparts

7.00 pm – Welcome address by the Mayor of Montefiore Conca, Filippo Sica, with the participation of the Mayor of Saludecio, Roberto Cialotti, and the President of Coldiretti Rimini, Guido Cardelli.

Opificio della Rosa, an international centre for environmentally friendly printmaking, is opening an exhibition of photographs and engravings created at the Rocca di Montefiore by artists-in-residence Paul Dewis, Kaz Dewis, Becky Price and Richard Grange. The artists will be present to meet the public.

A tasting of locally sourced produce, accompanied by the flute music of Vincenzo Mastropirro.

From 8.00 pm – Presentation of Paolo Nardi’s book “Ents, Elves and Eriador”

Followed by ‘Il Gesto e la Parola’: amidst wickerwork, the art of knotting, ceramics and poetry readings, ancient crafts and words come together in a dialogue between tradition and creativity.

The Emperor’s Hall
9.00 pm: The ancient Malatesta state room, adorned with 14th-century frescoes by Jacopo Avanzi, will provide the setting for Josephine Gajtani’s “Classico Contemporaneo” piano concert.

THE GALLERY OF ORACLES (Cottages at the foot of the Fortress)
From 7.00 pm – Tarot and the Witches’ Oracles. A journey into the art of tarot and the imagery of Italian and international witchcraft through the original illustrations of the ‘Tarocchi della Notte delle Streghe’ (Tarot of the Night of the Witches). During the evening, Niccolò Tonelli will guide the audience through the artistic project, presenting the latest decks to be published: Oracles of the Witches of Italy and Oracles of the Witches of the World.

THE CLEARING OF LORIEN (Arena Raciti)
Camp of the Archers of Lòrien with archery demonstrations and creative arrow-making workshops, organised by Arcieri Apollo Artemide Valconca ASD.
La Corte della Buona Terra: Coldiretti producers showcase the region’s authentic flavours.
From 8.00 pm – Draco Beats: Alice Belli takes the audience on a musical journey through fantasy soundtracks, big hits and DJ sets under the stars.

10.00 pm – DRUNKEN LULLABIES: violins, flutes, bagpipes and drums bring to life a concert inspired by Celtic tradition, featuring driving rhythms and the atmosphere of an old-fashioned tavern.

SUNDAY 26 JULY

10.00 pm – DÁN RÍL: The atmosphere of traditional Irish folk music, featuring ballads and dances.

11.00 pm – Silence gives way to storytelling: the legend of the Dragon’s Eggs kept in the Fortress is finally revealed. Music accompanies the anticipation, whilst fire lights up the night with the evocative ‘INCENDIO DELLA ROCCA’ by Fonti Pirotecnica.

Afterwards, the party continues with music from DÁN RÍL and Draco Beats.
