All at the opening of the III International Festival of Organ Vespers in San Martino, Sunday 6 October 2024 at 5.00 pm

In the spirit of their motto "Zelo zelatus sum pro Domino Deo exercituum" the Carmelite Friars of the Basilica of Saint Martin Major have the pleasure of inviting you to the Vespers prayer to which they have been devoted for centuries.
On Sunday 6 October, between sacred music and faith, the musical tradition of Bologna, the UNESCO Creative City for Music, will resume at 5pm, after the summer suspension, with the III International Review of Organ Vespers in San Martino, sacred music performed with Cipri's period organ (1556). For over 28 years, this religious liturgy has resumed its secular path, sharing the first Sundays of each month, from October and June, resuming with the new President, Fabiana Ciampi, who took over on 3 October 2022 from Maria Grazia Filippi, the unforgettable teacher of 'organ!
The theme of sacred music will be illustrated through a reflection on the Church organs (and those of Bologna, such as Cipri) and on the theme of their conservation, valorization and defense in a period of great difficulties and abandonment of religious structures, considered by UNESCO the most sustainable heritage in the world. The project of sacred music on the routes of the Romei and Romee maiores pilgrimages will be presented together with that of the Piccoli Romei in Cammino.
Vespers will follow at 5.30 pm, the first meeting of the nine scheduled as well as extraordinary vespers.
At 6.30 pm the Holy Mass will follow accompanied by the music of our organ.
100 places are available with free offer (if possible) to support the maintenance and restoration of the Cipri organ (1556).
