WOOL AND SILK ROAD
This route passes through beautiful natural spots as well as historic and cultural sites in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, a place renowned for its excellent food and wine, local traditions, and the hamlets, villages, and natural parks scattered over the stunning landscape. This route also connects Bologna and Prato, two cities rich in history, which have thrived over the centuries thanks to their river harnessing works. With its sluice on the Reno river and canals, Bologna has been known for centuries as the capital of silk, whereas Prato was known as the city of the ancient Cavalciotto weir, canals, and fulling mills, as well as for its wool and textile tradition. This evocative route is open all year round, but we advise caution during winter months.
